Hi All, After a long time had an opportunity of taking long festival leave and went to my hometown the blue mountain (Ooty). Spend some good time in fresh water fishing. Unfortunately some of the trout fishing dams were restricted by the forest department licence were not issued but I tried for trout in one of my friends private property. Added to that too many wild animals like leapords and tigers were migrated to these places where am fishing.

Nice setting, the dawn picture is magical ... does not matter if no fish were caught.

Apart from the wild animals you have mentioned, what worries me is the possibility of coming across a king cobra!

That last time I was on the west coast with my friend Durvesh. We were walking in a little trail not more than 3' wide. I was walking in the front and my friend was behind me. Between ame and my friend an adult cobra came out of the bush and went across the trail. My friend watied till it passed and we kept walking. So, I just walked past a cobra that was less than a foot from me. However, if I had accidently stepped on the cobra, then it would have been a different story.... I think the chances of running into a king cobra for me is very slim as I don't wander into thick jungle, but we never know I guess.

That being said, I fish some leapard territory and that is scary to me to walk at night. I keep watching my back and we flash a lot of light, especially behind. Also, those Russel's viper are scary while walking through the bushes and the krait during the rainy season at a place where I stay on the east coast, located in a farm near a forest, as they tend to get inside the room for the warmth.

Cheers!
Maruthu

Nice pics there! Can't wait to see your reports from Chennai.
I am planning to fish chennai a couple of times through Novermber and December....

PS: Though cobras like warmer weather, I think the king cobras may be finding it home in the forest areas in and around Ooty. I could be wrong though.

Nice to see you angling in the Nilgiris. I've heard of trout but haven't seen anybody catching one. Would love to see that someday.

Those are some nice carp specimens though. Good job catching them. Almost a mirror carp with the missing missing and irregular scales.

Cheers....

Ulygun... as I mentioned earlier in Niligris almost all the trout dams are closed for fishingby the wildlife department and fisheries department stop issuing licence.

@Vijay, may be I missed that, I thought you'd said some dams were closed, so wasn't sure if all were. No worries, appreciate the info nonetheless.

Happy fishing and cheers.....
