for rohu's hook bait....i use....

1.White bread.(soft n paste form, then mix white cotton on it,light desi ghee for smell.then take this past on hook without using hand).

2.Ent-egg(dull)..(take the ent-egg in a plate,ent-egg must be dry..otherwise it will be dislodge from the hook).

3.After finishing 1.,then the hook place on the egg-containing plate.

4.now you can use your finger to press the egg firmly in the hook.

5.Plz use 10 size hook(4 piece) for this mix

6.use another 10 size hook(4 piece) for Bola's egg.

it worked for me....hope it will work for you......enjoy fishing....

Mohammad Ayaz...

White cotton... without using hands... hmmm, very interesting.

I have seen your catch so I have no doubt this works like magic. But can you explain the above points.

You have not mentioned your rig.

if i am not mistaken the cotten helps the hook bait last longer on the hook when the small fishes are biting......

Understood, I wonder why no using hands. Is it because of the scent?

I doubt it, but then I am content with what I do, walk the shores and keep casting and retreiving even if I catch mothing, wait for the murrel/mulley and catfish excitement.

Ent egg is Ant's Eggs as Omesh has observed. Many people here believe that to touch the paste with your hands leaves a scent/other substance that repels fish. There is some truth in this perhaps as apparently experiments with high nutritive value baits in the UK for carp showed that an amino acid (I think its an amino acid) called serin is present on human hands and some have more than others. Excessive amounts of serin is supposedly a serious repellant for fish. Basically wash your hands in the pond/river water before putting on bait. It should do.
Bolla's "eggs" are actually the larvae of wasps and is very effective for rohu. The nests with the larvae (minus the wasps!) are sold in season (early monsoons) in baitshops all over Bangladesh. Fishing is a major business out here!

All the best

Thank You Mohammad for sharing some good information and equal thanks to Lakhmanya for elaborating on the subject.

It is appreciated that you discuss such topics but please restrain from discussing methods which are considered foul fishing.

Use of Multiple hooks and snagging the fish is not considered sport fishing and comes under the category of foul fishing. The main objective of this site is to promote sport fishing and C&R so no discussion on foul methods.

Regards,

Ali.

Yecch, gloves smell worse.

Better yet - use a spoon or ladle. Swirl the thing around as in a atta making machine.

Doc

Asl I said, just wash your hands well before touching or making bait - without soap! However you can put cut up cubes of bread in a muslin cloth, Wet with water and knead the cloth. A lot of pastes here are made from various flours including that of sticky rice in a mixer and people go to extraordinary lengths to avoid touching the dough. Personally I think this is more in the mind. I prefer to go with the handwashing routine.

All the best

Hi Abhisek,

** Please use the language English in the forum

Now what I understand from your question is ; You want to know the hook bait recipe for catching Mrigal fish.

1> take 200 gm of basmati rice and cook it till 75% of it ; cool it down ; add some yeast powder (1 spoon)
put it in some air tight jar ; keep under some dark and cooler place 5 -7 days . remember the rice should not contain too much of water;

2> The day you want to go fishing mix the above fermented rice with following

bread white portion (1 loaf)
sattu (roasted gram flour) - little

Mix well and make it soft

you are ready to use it for your hook :) Use size 6-8 circular hooks

Tight lines
