Hi all,

Would like to hear from you'll if any of you have attempted or currently have a rod holder while riding on the motorbike.

This is not so much of an issue for rods sub 3 feet (2 piece), which can be managed, but I am talking about rods in the range of 4 feet plus (2 piece = 8 feet + rods). My setup is currently a 10 feet Abu Garcia tournament rod. Along with the PVC piping which I got the size works to around 5.1 feet.

Have a few ideas in mind, but would need your opinion too.

Find below a few images which I managed to scout from some online forums.

Just FYI, I ride a Royal Enfield, but this could apply to any other bike.

Waiting to hear from you. :)

Why not consider buying either a telescopic rod or a travel rod that comes in
3-4 pieces?

Both could be stored in a case that is about 70cm.long (depending on the overall length of the rod you choose).

This would enable easy transport on a motorcycle or when traveling by plane
or trains etc.

It would entail your buying a new rod though ..... extra expense.

Just a thought.

Hi Kingfish,

Well that would be an ideal situation. I do have a telescopic rod too, but once I got hooked to the 2 piece rod there was no turning back.

Besides the fact that the two piece rod can be used for a variety of situations (not that I have hooked any big fish till date.. :) but I do hope lady luck 'grins' at me soon).

Would love to see sturdy completed and implemented projects on this setup.

I have seen anglers either go by car, someone in the backseat of their bike carry it and finally extremely shoddy way of tying it up to the bike that that put both - rider and pedestrians at risk.

I have the same rod, Abu Garcia 10 feet and I always go in a bike to my fishing spot. I just tie it along side of the bike, one tie in the crash guard and one somewhere in the rear, I would not extend it much in front of the crash guard as it will hinder steering. My ride will be somewhere between 15-20 kilometer and I have taken the rod in the same manner in my Enfield Thunderbird couple of times exceeding 250 kms. Also I don't use any PVC cover for the rod. For short distance I just tie it naked and for long distance I wrap the rod with some spongy material around the knot. In fact I will take a gaff along with the rod an it is 6 feet. Hope this helps..
