For Float Feeder:

You need to have an approximate idea as to how much weight is supported by your float.Usually it is marked on the float. There are floats that support above 15gm.
If you are using your home made float, test it somewhere as to how much weight can it suspend. One can use an inflated balloon as a float.Yes, a balloon can be used as a float and I have caught smallmouth bass and crappie fishes with that. For details on how to rig with a balloon as a float but you can watch these videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZRziw-DgSI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBUQFJOIeZM

This will also give you an idea as to how to use an empty plastic bottle with a cap as a float.

Once you have an idea about your float you should have ground bait and hook bait ready.Details about the ground bait and hookbaits have been mentioned in many places in the forum. You can also refer to my post :

http://www.indianangler.com/viewtopic.p ... 1c952ffa6d

You will also need a bait cage like this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-Sale-2x-6-I ... 3a944148e9

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Promotion-5X-Ha ... 3ce35defe2

If you donot want to order these or think these to be heavy and want to be creative then we have two options:

1) get a small 100ml plastic bottle or plastic jar (transparent ones. You can also use the ones which are used to give samples to clinical laboratories.Whatever thing you use, make sure there is a lid to let the groundbait into it and the lid holds tight) and make some holes in it with an agrabatti or a hot nail.Make plenty of holes for the water to go into the bottle and to break the ground bait. Fill this bottle with ground bait (squeeze and stuff the bottle depending on the weight supported by the float)..Thru two of the many holes you made in the bottle slide your leader (with hair rig tied) and tie to the main line...
Have a look at my diagram to understand the bait cage and the rig.Sorry about the art as i am bad using MS paint on my laptop.Hope it gives an idea as to what i am trying to explain.Link :

2) get a medical gauze like this one.Make sure it is non scented or pre medicated.Every medical shop/pharmacy in India and worldwide sells these.
http://www.wolfmed.com/media/catalog/pr ... CGB2NS.jpg

Cut 6 to 8 inches of the gauze and stretch/spread the holes in the gauze with your fingers. This is to allow water and to break the ground bait and let the particles out of the gauze smoothly. Now add ground bait on the gauze. The ground bait has to be sqeeuzed into a small ball and put on the centre of piece of the gauze that you have just cut.bring the four corners of the gauze together and tie them tight with a string or a small monofilament line .

Take 45 cm to 90 cm leader.Snell two hooks on the leader as shown in this picture/link.

Hook A has a hair rig and it has the boilie or corn or any bait on it.Hook B on the leader is where the gauze filled with ground bait is hung/suspended from.Hook B can be a treble hook to have better grip of the gauze.
I hope the rig shown in the picture will give you an idea as to what I am trying to explain. The gap between Hook A and Hook B can be anywhere between 15cm to 30cm.
Hook A can be either hair rigged or the corn/bait can be put on the hook directly.

So this is how YOU CAN MAKE LIGHT WEIGHT FEEDER CAGES for float fishing. They will be lesser in weight than the steel cages that are sold online or the ones that you use for bottom fishing.

However there are some feeders without weight that can be used for Float fishing. These are the ones.
http://www.anglersinternational.com/ima ... feeder.jpg

They can be made at home using an empty refill from the pen or straw and a wire wounded onto it securely.

If NOT float fishing or bottom fishing you can still use the medical gauze and fill it with ground bait.If you want to cast far add a stone/lead in the gauze along with the ground bait. This will give you extra weight to cast far.For float fishing donot add a stone/lead in your ground bait if you are NOT sure your float can support that extra weight..!!
This gauze can also be used for sea fishing where instead of ground bait, you can add shrimp or crap pieces or fish pieces into it as chum or attractant..

NOTE : I , IN NOW WAY LIKE TO LITTER OR DUMP PLASTIC BOTTLES IN THE LAKES OR RIVERS OR SEAS THAT I FISH.I REQUEST YOU ALL TO LITTER IN A PROPER PLACE AFTER FISHING..PLEASE KEEP YOUR PLACE TIDY.
I am the kind of angler who suggests budget and affordable techniques that I have tested and have been successful at them. If you have any other ideas please feel free to share with us.
