Keeping the same format as for saltwater lures, I invite contributions from fellow anglers on their 3 favourite lures for catching freshwater fish in India.
To kick off the topic, I will list mine below. Please do note that my freshwater trips in India are limited as I reside abroad for most of the year and my emphasis has been on saltwater angling.
Nevertheless, I have fished in North and South Indian rivers and lakes since the 1970s and caught my share of fish. Primarily mahseer but also a lot of murrel in the Cauvery.
My tried and tested freshwater lures:
1. Jointed Rapala J11 in Rainbow Trout colour ( for mahseer)
2. Green and Gold Halco Scorpion ( called Sorcerer in India) ..... trolling for mahseer from a boat
3. Mepps No.3 in silver ( for murrel)
Honourable mention may be made of various other lures, such as the Lil Cleo, Toby spoon, Halco silver Wobbler, Rooster Tails,Tail Dancer, various soft plastics etc. but I would take the above mentioned 3 lures if I had a choice.
Let us see what you have to say!
