my daiwa sweepfire 2b 4000 spinning reel has become free. it means even when i lock it the gear does not get locked and is free to reel in & out leading to tangle of the line. all suggestion are welcome.

the lock mechanism may be broken. if u are good with tools try opening and fixing it

Go to youtube and search for the disassembly instructions for your reel. Reel repair is really easy with the right tools and spares.

check your anti reverse lever and secondly the bail arm assy. refer to your schematics prior to opening.

Will not completely agree on this. There are very sterdy reels that come from daiwa too, it all depends on the make and model.

Cheaper reels no matter from which company are not as sturdy as the more upmarket ones. You get what you pay for....
