Are good quality Life Jackets available in India ? I am looking for Life Jackets I can wear in large & deep lakes like the Bhakra Dam which is small in size and I can use whilst using a spinning rod.

Abroad I have seen jackets which have body of "nylon mesh" so that it doesn't heat you up.

Ashok, suggest you try Google....I have not seen anyone in India who sells meshed lifejackets. Your best bet would be importing directly from the US.

You could also consider the CO2 activated ones available abroad since they are much cooler than the traditional life jackets. I personally use a waterproof backpack which doubles up as a flotation aid in an emergency.

Hi Ashok,

I believe hobs6 had posted something commercial in nature and hence the post was edited.

Hi Ashok,

I have three types, the bulky local made one, the fancy imported ( made for angling)mesh one with netting at the back & sides and lastly the body glove type used in water sports. Of the three, I would recommend the body glove type as it interferes the least while fishing. However, the mesh type one, made specifically for angling has many pockets & clips for angling accesories. In our case we generally dont walk around with our gear , so it is not of much use. The CO2 bottle filling type is the lightest & most expensive. These are designed for swimmers, who even if they accidentally fall into water, can activate the vest. Not suitable for non swimmers.
Regards
Cavalier

Looks like there's some confusion here....Hobs message was edited by a mod ...his original post to Ashok was not a reminder of the rules but a link to a local adventure store.
