Hi Guys!

Guys its seems everyone here is an experience angeler, Im new to salt water though I have landed Baracudda using Abu garcia Bruiser 7' Spinning rod at Kovallam.
I wanted to upgrade my gears, planning for 13' or 12'ft spinning rod, so need an advice on the rods and where can I get it in Chennai.

Any information will be helpful

Thanks and regards
Vinni

Hi Vinni,
Why you need a 12' or 13' rod? Also what is your approximate budget for the rod?
If you think, only by casting very far you can catch a fish, you are wrong.
Already you have landed a Barracuda with your 7 feet rod. I would suggest you to watch other anglers to get an idea of strike zone distance.
I would suggest you to get a 10' rod, braid and a good spinning reel designed for braid. Also plugs which are meant for surfcasting.
If distance is a constraint try to get a better rod from manufactures like St Croix, lamiglas, Century etc.

For surfcasting halco Roosta popper and max will be good. The metals from halco will be good as well.
I very much liked Diawa SP minnow. The other lures with a magnetic weight transfer system like yo-zuri mag darter will also be very effective.
For pencil poppers try Gibbs/Superstike/Atom/yo-zuri.
I am not sure about the availability of these lures locally.
