Dear All!

First off, please understand that this topic has been initiated as a discussion and guideline. It is by no means intended as a hard and fast rule.

Further to this I am in no way, any form of authority on this topic/issue or any topic pertaining to angling for that matter.
My intention is just to put forth my sensibilities on the topic and invite a healthy discussion and views leading to some form of consensus on the topic, which finally is left to the individual angler's discretion.

Fresh water species

All kinds of Mahseer : Only C n R

Giant Chital : Only C n R

Any fish caught above the size and weight specs should preferably be photographed .. revived and put back..

all gravid females caught must be put back..( especially if one is fishing during breeding seasons.. when one must not actually.. it goes against the sporting and conservation ethic)

Please feel free to add further game species in both categories.

Any further inputs and opinions are most welcome..

Will also post about fish handling some c n r techniques shortly.

Thanks, regards and tight lines to all!

I hear you loud and clear and I feel you have been reasonable with the numbers! good job! I have a question though, why kill mangur at no limit? and Tilapia ok for Pune but in some cities it is not so bad or is it?

mangur is invasive.. not local.. it is a low down scavenger and opportunistic predator... that is always eating .. when it gets the opportunity.. is a detriment to local indigenous fish and is not good to eat ..especially from polluted water bodies.

pabda - butter cats ..rakesh at least in pune you can get them in droves during the first break in between the rains.. then thru the year .. its all about locating which shoals are trapped in which stretch of water ..and knowing when water is released from one stretch to another. i suppose 10 per angler in season is ok. rest of the year ..keep dreaming about those 10 ..hahahaha.

wonderful of you to talk about the release of murrel (in pune) please do so .. dont relocate.. murrel are territorial.. please be discreet though).

Hehehe thanks man... Murrel was the first fish that I saw in my childhood, and it fascinated me since then..."Braal" thats what its called in mallu... I would definitely not eat that fish, despite the fact that many anglers tell me its tasty, would either release it back or relocate it to a better place(most of the time we release it, but in vain as we know the place is gonna be netted) Why cant endangered and rare fish be tagged and monitored ? like the the Mongolian taimen !(I am going to start a new topic on this)
