Greetings anglers,

My name is Kevin I'm 25 and I will be studying at the University of Hyderabad this semester. I'll be landing in Hyderabad the first week of July 2012 and I'll be there till December. I really want to do some fishing while I'm there. I have gear and have fished all my life. If anybody wants to meet up and show me how you all fish in India that would be great.

Question 1: Do I need a fishing license or permit?

Question 2: Most things I read about general catfish fishing talks about using cut bait, heavy sinkers and drift fishing, but as I read about fishing around Hyderabad a lot of the forums talk about using mepps spinners and spoons. What do you all think?

you can catch cat fish with spoons and spinners as the catfish you catch here is a predator and lot scavenger like other catfish .there are also snakeheads there in Hyderabad .you can use your bass tackle and lures note scum frogs /spinners are great bait . were do you fish in USA? are surf or freshwater fisherman? slow moving bait is the key use frog imitations during mansoon i.e rainy season and spinners and spoons during rest of the year.

Thanks for the info, I live in Michigan on Lake Superior. I'm a freshwater fisherman at home, I fish mostly for trout and bass.

bring your gear .7-8ftt rod suited for casting light lures like mepps inline spinners and lil celo .Use lures which you would in winter for bass nice slow moving remember vibration is key . spoons and spinners work great also some poppers are successful .the scum frogs and other frog limitations are best for snakeheads spinners are great for all try to use wobbling spoons here we have found that round spoons work better than oval shaped one's that you use they are mostly home made . abu toby spoon has been useful go through Murrel(snakehead) and catfish(mulley) section to get the image of the home made spoon.
