Hi folks, I'm thinking about dressing up my siwash and treble hooks using different materials used to dress them (bucktail, feathers, squirrel tail and even artificial flashers and materials). I understood that few basic tools like a vise, bodkin etc., are helpful. Could anyone educate about the minimal tools, materials required and where to buy them in India? Best regards Om. |

Hi Om... cant help you much as I don't do any fly fishing and neither do I make fly..... but however I do use fly for another method of fishing...SPINFLY fishing.... that is using a 8-9ft 'noodle' rod on a 1500-2500 size reel with a 6-9lb mono or a 12lb braid... fixing a "ready made" fly ... with some "split shot" sinker.... Ok... have seen some DIY tools which can be use for fly making... to hold the hook for you to work on the fly... DIY a used DRILL CHUCK and find it to an iron rod shaped to your requirement, prefeably a flexible type of stand, something like the one used as microphone stand.... Goodluck... |
