My little lake on my Tea Estate is finally maturing and the fishing is improving with the fish getting larger!
Two of us went fishing there last week. We caught a lot of fish. Here are some pics of some of the catch:
Rohu in the net.
Coming in to the net
We even caught a Ghonia (Labeo gonius) of over a kg. in weight.(1.3 kg. actually weighed)
Yours truly attached to a fish.
This catla was of a new batch put in a year ago and weighed 1.5 kg. However another Catla was landed that weighed 8 kgs. Although it has been duly weighed and entered in the tally book no photographs were taken, nor was the name of the fisherman entered against it. It was foul-hooked in the anal fin!
A number of others, presumably large Catla, came adrift after long runs and hard fights to the laughter of onlookers and discomfiture of the fisherman concerned!
The Rohu all weighed within an ace of 3 1/2 kg. plus or minus a few grams. The Mrigal were as alike as peas in a pod and weighed 4 kg.
All fish were released except a vagrant 700 gram Tilapia which was removed to the frying pan.
All the best
