Hi Manish,

Good show on the fish. 1 suggestion though... carry a plain car rubber foot mat with you next time. Fish and gravel don't mix!!! It does a lot of damage to the fish and it really decreases their chances of survival!

@ All members of IA: If release is the aim, the idea is to do minimum damage to the fish. If you'd prefer fish and chips, then a quick knock to the back of the head will adminster the coup de grace. Just leaving it on the banks is akin to holding a guys' head underwater. Think about it.

Hope you catch a monster soon.

Cheers,
IG

hi guys,

For the first time i decided to go for murrels @ pench dam as the water level was too low and the mahseer fishing was tough. after a very hard work for around 5 hours because the dam is too big i got this murrel which is 1 of my best. A 6 kg cover giant

Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

there is lot more to come from pench and believe me they are big

I like the size of the fish. Very Nice catch. Hard work always pays off.
Can u pls advice wat type of retrieves do u need for this kind of fish?
Wat r the ideal habitat for these fishes?
If i had to visit a new place wat r the indications that this place would have this fish around?
I have seen many pics of this fish and most of them havbeen caught on spinners, which other lures work for these fish?
If u dont mind can u show a pic of the spinner u used or probably pm me the pics only if u wish to?

Regards
Ralph

@thanks all for ur kind comments.
@ ralph...snakeheads most of time prefer to stay in shallow water in weedy areas. If u are targetting murrels u have to see the side the lakes for there feeding signs.
for ur info this fish was caught on homemade spoon and i have posted the pics of that spoon earlier somewhere in the murrel section.
i prefer to retrieve spoon slow while targetting murrels side by side of the lake.
in case of any doubt u can ask me...will be very happy to help.
regards
MANISH

Hi guys,

This is a murrel year for me except some of the small mulleys i caught accidentally while spinning for snakeheads. caught some of the big murrels but was not able to beat my own record of 5 kgs. lost 3 very big murrels and finally i am deciding to end the murrel year prior to the monsoon. Hope are still on :-)

posting some of my recent catches.

Hi guys,
Some people after seeing my catches named me as murrel king but the real king who keep an eye on his territory is murrel. Murrel is a real warrior from my own experience, there is no point comparing it to any fish else.

Here are some of my recent catches :D
