Thanks guy for your positive comments :P

Not much is known to me about the story behind this murrell except that it was caught in June '11 using spinner and shared by Shadab bhai on FB. Perhaps Shadab bhai knows about the story. The angler might be the friend of close friend of Shadab bhai. ;)

Thanks And Regards
Arish

I don't know whether the information is correct or not. I and shadab bhai respect everyone's view. What I know and what I heard is what I have shared. Earlier it was the Dawood bhai's episode where in he used his tale to raise 2 more kilogram to his Murrell. And here too comes the same scene

As far as this murrel is concerned, Shadab bhai who got info about this murrell from Lin replied "Lin said it was caught by Sohail in a private lake in Hyderabad, I don't know if he was himself there but I have no reason not to believe him, its also possible that he wanted to cover up shooting story so may be he lied but unless we have reliable info we should not make up stories"

Anglers and their tales ;)

Regardless of how it was caught. This is truly a giant murrel no denying that. We had discussed on this forum about a 10 kg murrel since long and this is the first time that we get to see a picture of some thing around that magic mark.

I am sure that this will go a long way in motivating our anglers to go after that dream fish:-).
Thanks Arish for posting the picture

Yes Jeen,

You're right. It is certainly a motivation.

For users of IA, i remember 7kg mark was something like the biggest.

There are locations in Andhra Pradesh which contain murrel of 10-20kg trophy sizes. Specially in the lakes which are connected to Krishna river and downstream of Srisailam dam.

Arish: That murrel is different and was also shot in a private lake in karnataka

Cheers
Salim

Shooting Murrel is very common.

Maybe you guys should also look at this..

" This species is a large snakehead with adults commonly reaching lengths of 120-122 cm (Talwar and Jhingran, 1992). In Maharashtra State,
India, it can reach a length of 1.8 m and a weight of 30 kg, and was observed to reach a length of 30 cm in 1 year (Talwar and Jhingran, 1992). "

Hyderabadi Stories are legendary. Phekne mein ustaad.

No offence to anyone in particular.

Apologies in advance. But fact is a fact.

Jeen:Thanks Jeen, Im also aware of the discussion of murrell over 10kg here, If im not wrong the maximum weight that ever caught and discussed in the forum is 12kg Murrell caught by the person whom even my uncle trust him and told so much of him to me. Another is 14-15kg mark discussed by one of the Pakistani angler.

Saleem bhai: the exact weight of that 7kg murrell is 7.4kg caught by Sailendra , whom Jeen praised it as the largest that ever caught and clicked :)

Quote:
Arish: That murrel is different and was also shot in a private lake in karnataka

Another tell a tale of an angler  let me find out more evidence.

Santosh: I also heard of 25kg murrell that was shot by a Hyderabadi :(

Kashaif: Yes of course Hyderabadi stories are legendary but not all stories are fake. You got wrong impression about us.

I know there are too many who fakes stories and I heard countless stories out of them I only share those that are of interest.

before accepting your advanced apology you have to know that those who fakes the story are not exclusively reserved to Hyderabadis but these cheap story tellers are easily available throughout the world.

The fact is fact and the real fact is:

->It was the Hyderabadi who first discussed and brought to light about the existence of murrell over 10kg mark in this forum and his id is cauvery_cowboy

->It was the Hyderabadi who caught the 12kg murrel in the 70's when there were hardly very few anglers in those days and his name is Nizam sahab. He is in his 75th-76th years now and he still enjoys this beautiful sport called Angling, hooking many fish regularly even through he got his one leg disabled long ago when his jeep overturned. According to me he is the real spirited angler.

->Hyderabad has its own style of fishing called "Singh ka Shikar" which the master carp anglers of IA from India - Ali bhai and GRC was amazed by the style of method it employs.

->It was the Hyderabadi who wrote the accurate detail on the complex method of Hyderabadi style of fishing "Singh Ka Shikar". There are so many traditional style of fishing in India and non ever dared to write their method as accurate as the one written by cauvery_cowboy.

->It was the Hyderabadi who bought the concept of home made spoon in this forum and proved it successful. He is Saleem bhai(flyhigh).

->There are more successful murrell, mulley and carp anglers from Hyderabad than rest of the country. They are the like of Nizam Sahab, Ishaq sahab and his descendants, Rehmat bhai(Junaid bhai's brother) and his circle, Masab tank gang(Saleem bhai, Chand bhai, Iqbal bhai are among the popular figure), Siddique bhai(my uncle) and his circle of friends, Barkas fishing party, Srinivas and his friends, Shadab bhai and his father, Lin D'Silva, locals from Himayathsagar(among them i know the name of one person - Saddam) etc. There are still more whom I have personally met and learned from them and still more well experienced gangs of anglers whom I have seen throughout 7 of the trips done so far.

->It was the Hyderabadis who first got the news of this giant murrell and it was also a Hyderabadi who proved about the existence by showing the proof when majority of the members didn't believed it earlier.

These are just few of the many facts of Hyderabadis so better respect the Hyderabadis rather than blaming them for their little mistakes.

No hard feeling mate, they are facts the real facts of Hyderabadis :P

I am not commenting or doubting the accomplishments of hyderabadi anglers nor their record catches and methods. Hope that is clear. Bro I am as much a hyderabdi as you are. I have 100 times more relatives there than the total number of IA members. But yaar phekne ki aadat ka kya karen. Fish tales maybe.

I prefer to show only my catches or pics of fish landed in my presence. I don't believe in sharing stories. If I don't have anything to share then better just congratulate others on theirs.

Mr Arish, I don't know why people are telling lies again but if Lin is involved in story it must be lie. Everybody in Hyerabad knows this bloody fool. In fact this is Shaukat-bhais fish shot with 3006 riffle in badi jheel in Bhopal. The fish is 6.2 kg correct as said by Shaukat-bhai himself. Also, the scale is not real the picture was taken without showing the fish on scale only the readings of wait for fun only.

If one does not know the actual story he should not spread wrong informations about other angler who has cot fish.
