Last Sunday, Maruthu Simon and I went to our favorite fishing spot in Chennai. We saw that the high tide was at 5 pm and reached there by 4.00 pm. As usual we started rigging, and walking on the shore when we saw that the GT's were feeding. We casted our poppers and were reeling, there were lots more than one GT feeding that day.
Simon got the first hit, all I saw was a big splash near his popper and Simon was struggling with his rod, It took him more than 20 mins to land the fish. Phew it was around 8 kilo a good size GT.
Maruthu got the next strike, near the shore and he landed the fish pretty easily, he was using his favorite conventional rod with a abu reel. While he was landing the fish, a fish was chasing my popper, but I yanked a bit quickly and the fish let the popper go
Maruthu's fish was released quickly. We saw some cudas feeding around 100 yards from us, and Maruthu gave me a good lure and asked to try for cudas.
I casted twice but now hits, on the third cast I was reeling slowly as Maruthu had suggested, a big hit, and my reel was screaming, the fish took a lot of line in the first run. I thought it was a cuda, but knew cuda would make their first run very long, but this wasn't like that. It took a good 25 mins to land the fish; it was another GT around the 8 kilo mark.
Had a great day, we all had caught fish, and it was the first for me and Simon :)
