Hi,

I am very new to salt water fishing. Planning to go for a shore fishing trip with some of my friends next month, but facing lot of difficulties while tying the fluorocarbon leader with hook/lure or main line.
I have 30 pound fluorocarbon leader and 12 pound mono main line.
Request you to please help me out in this. Became tired after searching a lot in the internet regarding this topic.

Thanks and Regards,
Dhruba

Check youtube videos for knots like Albright knot, Reverse Albright knot, Uni knot, Uni-Uni knot, San Diego slip knot, Triline knot.
Buy some cheap heavy pound mono ( 40+) from local tackle shop and practice these knots.
While heavy pound is difficult to tie, it will give a good platform for learning.

Try this knot for fluro to mono and let us know how it goes.

I think there is also a possibility of using swivel if you keep the leader short enough.

Cheer.....

The best knot I have used is a modified version of the Surgeons knot. Use the following instruction but use five turns when using braided line.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. It really helped me a lot.
I have tried each of the knots and now able to tie the main line with my leader.
But still facing issue while tying the leader with my lure/hook.
Tried Palomar Knot,Improved Clinch Knot using Berkley Vanish 30LB Fluorocarbon Leader but it's not being strong enough.
Please help.

Thanks and Regards,

Dhruba

Try triline knot. I personally use uni knot for all my terminal connection. Yet to have a failure.

Start with a simple Uni knot until you have confidence in tying other knots.

Dhruba,

Try a different brand of fluorocarbon leader, if possible, for comparison purposes.

Some of the reviews of Berkley Vanish fluoro leader mention that it is very difficult to tie a strong knot with it ,so they have switched to a different brand.

Hope this helps,
Kingfish
