Dear Comrades,

After 5 months I hooked and landed a 10.5kg BARRAMUNDI in kovalam Chennai.

I thank all my team-mates who have been a great support to me in achieving this success.

Thanks & Regards

Vijay Fisher

@kingfish thank you, The fish got hurt baldy when it hit on the rocks twice and also the local flocks who helped me to land the fish advised me that she was bleeding badly from the gills.

Thanking you Binu ,Arefin, EzekialManase, lure_fisherman and Jeen.
I lost some species very close especially in kovalam before I landed them it will get snapped.
The days remain me when I was accompanied with Calvin where I could not land the GT which got snapped after 45 minutes of fight. When I got a chance to fishing with Binu I lost once again which was very close.

Don’t worry Ezekial sea always welcome anglers.

Nice catch there bud. Hope you catch more of these beauties.

But, pardon my ignorance on the topic of Barramundi. Does this fish fight good? what other parts of India can it found in? Is this more of a marsh fish found close to the beach or a deep water fish? Sorry to hijack your post, but thought might get some response here due to traffic.

Cheers......

Barramundi is highly sought out fish by anglers. The aerial jumps during the fight are nothing less than spectacular.
During the aerial display they shake their head violently and the chance of lure flying out of its mouth is quite high.
Barramundi is known to avoid net and even if caught mostly they leave a big hole in the net due to the serrated gill plates.
It is available in both east and west coast. They lay the eggs around brackish water and the juveniles move upstream and live there till 2- 3 years of age.
Barramundi can tolerate varying saline levels and can be found in fresh water too. They change sex after 2- 3 years of age.
The smaller ones are male and the big ones are female.
