Sooji is most effective on Katla. So if u want katla U must use sooji if u can. in a lake or big ponds if any 2 or 3 angler use Sooji Laddu all of other hookbait formula is failed.

make suji laddu using sooji with hadia, ghee, oil, sweetner, ants egg etc..

use Some Coconut oil & Fresh Butter when Throw the Laddu Bait.

Dear Susanta,

Kangla is a great scented thing for catla fishing i suggest to you don't mix kangla in your sooji bait because it is very
(i use in bengali word) "Teeta" so, if you want to mix it with your bait a little dust of Kanlga you can mix. like ek Chimti.
thank you.
Good luck

I always appreciated with biltu, he tells a very un-negligible truth no one can explain the fish which bait is tacking different pond, lake fishes takes different type of bait experience is the best method to improve your self.
Thank You Biltu, you are really a "Guru"
Best Regards and good luck

hey grc pic will coming soon... its not just bait its a atom bomb for katla..... if all of us using this method then i am dam sure that indian govt will open a department named - Katla Conservation Department

do not use this formula regularly.... use some other feeder methods that AliBhai mentioned earlier.. lets save some fishes.... 8) 8) 8) and yes release some fishes if possible..

susanta.... you are gearing up for the competition. nobody catching any big ones at the moment , hope it changes by the time competition starts. i wont be surprised if somebody win motorcycle with just 2 kg fish.
beliaghata lake is very unpredictable. the best bet will be to hire local helper(shikari ) . they know all the recipes which will work there .

Dear Susanta,

I have been visiting the Beleghata lakes quite often and have been catching quite a few fish but nothing bigger than 2-3kgs.. For the jhoopie fishermen, the laddoo ball is not allowed so they use bread bait.. However they make a small laddoo ball and then put the bread baited hooks around it.. Lapping is done and then dipped in narkel pocha and casted off.

I advise you to sit on seats 44, 45 (good seats for pangas and rohu - today a pangas of 3kgs was caught from 44 when I was there), 54, 55, 58, 59, 84 - 96, 100, and the VIP seats are good seats to sit on.. Currently a lot of people are fishing the west bank from seats 80-96..

I will try to make it on November 24, however its a long way off.. Give me a buzz and we'll plan something..

Tight Lines,
GRC

:D :D

Peter - Am coming only to feed the fish.. Am using baits without hooks also  ..
But on a serious note, am not sure about the competition but if I do sit, I might plan a 2-day sitting..
Think I will choose a crappy seat so even if I dont catch fish, i can blame the seat and if I do win, then I can boast of being a great angler

Which days are you planning to sit on ? Is Mr Foning also with you ?

Will try and make it on the 29th and 30th.. Ideally these are the better days to fish as you know how the fish are feeding and what are the sizes that are being caught.. Fishing on the first two days is like flying blind.. But then Beleghata has always been unpredictable.. Fingers crossed..

Lets meet up before that.. We can have a sort of meeting for all the Bong anglers (and fishermen)

GRC,-Hope to accompany u on 24th,will be coming to Kol.

Rod n reel : give best rgds to Mr phoning, not met since a long

Sushanta-on the Swabhumi side, there is a person -Dilip da,who sells masala, take my reference(mukherjee da-ex secreatary -laldighi), he will definitely guide u on particular seats where u sit & will also send local angler to help u out.

take haria from bacchu da & lal bakor from dilip da. dont use narkel pocha too much there.work only on bhat polao, haria & lal bakor.

dist for bait -45-50ft depending on seats

for rohu take help of GRC.

all the best
Nil

Thanks Nil for directing all rohu queries towards me.. Rohu is the reddish fish na
But seriously, Nil, 23rd and 24th we will sit along with Mr Panda and catch prizes 1, 2 & 3.. And when nobody is watching we will release the fish and give others a chance to get the prizes

Biltu - Off the bank, I treat all persons (anglers and fishermen) equally, however when am fishing, I feel differently for the fishermen.. I am still open to a meeting before the competition..

Susanta - You are welcome to be our guest when we are fishing.. And dont worry about identifying rods and reels, as he will be the one catching the biggest fish on that day and riding the motorcycle home

Nil i will certainly convey your regards to Mr Foning.

Susanta if you see a dark guy with pony tail fishing with spinning setup in beliaghata , its me. :-)

Gavin you seriously exaggerated about my fishing abilities. i am champion of catching the smallest of fish in any waterbody . today i was fishing in lal dighi and i managed to catch 20-22 odd fishes but non was above 200gms. :D

Just to keep you guys posted.. Yesterday, my fellow IA member and good friend, Rajeswar Panda and myself fished at Beleghata and caught 2 rohus.. One was about 800gms and the other was close to 5kgs.. Unfortunately, no pics of the big rohu as it was caught on the last bait of the day and in total darkness..
And since forum rules dont allow for posting of dead fish, we could not post the photo of the pic taken at home...

For all you guys who want to verify the claim (and I believe that there will be a few), we were sitting on seat #82...

I think the gauntlet has been thrown down for the competition
