Set off this weekend, for us ( Friday ), with a strong wind blowing behind us which meant a calm sea and a bit warm with the hot air blowing in from the desert. Not so good for surface action but good for light jigging. A few trevallies on surface stick bait.

Cheers,

Jeen

Thanks guys,

Yes Maruthu those groupers really pull when they are down there ,but then ,when they come up half way their bladder expands and the steam runs out.
And Binu actually that was a shallow diver ( floating) whose lip we broke off. We do that quite often to shallow floating divers if we like the profile and colour :-)

cheers,

Jeen

Hello Jeen,

That "stickbait" seems to be a Yozuri Crystal Minnow (floating)?

If so, then it is quite an expensive and high quality lure ...... by breaking off its lip, does it perform better than the normal stick baits?

Just curious.

Many thanks,
Kingfish

Desperate measures king fish  Some times when the fish are feeding you look for something in the tackle box that matches the profile of the bait in the water, in this case small sardines and you do what is required.

The required movement is imparted by the rod tip twitching like walk the dog thenn skipiing on the surface like a fleeing bait fish and pause a wee bit and the " stick bait " sinks a bit and then slowly rises up to the surface like an injured fish .. and wham! that's when most of the strikes happen.

Cheers,

Jeen

Nice to see some action there Jeen, managed to get out and do some mahseer fishing last week. Seven fish on lure, from 8lb to 15lb. Lost a couple of lunkers due to lure failure.

Cheers
Bops

Jeen,
That's a great idea, thanks for sharing!! I will give that a try with some of my unused lures.

Hello Bops,

So how about a trip report and pictures of your trip for mahseer??

Interested to learn of the "lure failures" as well.

Kind regards,
Kingfish

Hi Kingfish

I was fishing alone so didn't manage pictures. As far as lure failure is concerned, the plastics I use have a molded plastic body inside, to which the hooks are fastened by means of a long screw. The hooks were pulled out along with the screw. I've now started using a different lure where this should not occur.
