Congrats Sudhan!

Hope the fishing in chennai picks up soon and wish you many more....

How is the situation in Kovalam as of now?
I was there last week at Fisherman's Cove and noticed that the water was murky.

Maruthu,

Is this the same spot we fished, prior to the jetty/ rock wall being constructed?

Exact spot where we were fishing!

After the jetty construction, I think things have slowed down a bit.
But I hope that it will pick up sometime in the near future.

Also, I wish they construct the jetty sooner on the other side of the river mouth as well....

Maruthu,

Are they making a jetty on the other side of the river, as well?

Do you think the fishing will improve as a result of this? More cover in the rocks for grouper, GTs etc.?

As the jetty reaches well out into the sea, perhaps we may be able to cast into deeper water and target species such as Spanish mackerel ?

Let us have your opinion, as I may revisit this place .

Kingfish,

From what I heard, they have plans to build the jetty on the other side of the river mouth. However, there seems to be some local political issues going on with that. Sudhan might have the latest information on this matter which I think he can share with us.

Building a jetty on the other side will confine the river mouth to one place. Not that there won't be good fishing without the other jetty, but the other jetty might make it better. At some point in a year the river mouth will through one of the jetty's rocks forming a deeper but narrow channel that should congregate all the action to a smaller area. However, with the fishing pressure in that spot I don't know how this would be of any help. let's wait and see....

When are you planning to visit that place?
If it is after a few months, you might have to check on what's going at that time in that place....

Maruthu,

I guess we will just have to wait and see what transpires at this river mouth, both in terms of fishing and construction.

No plans to visit this place until next year . I am fishing the Ramganga for Mahseer coming October.

Kingfish,

That'd be a wise decision in my opinion as well.
Please keep us posted on your upcoming fishing trips....

Sudhan,

Can you please update on the jetty construction plan/progress at Kovalam?

Thanks!
Maruthu
