Does anyone know where I can get a license or permit so I can go fishing on the rivers? I live in Mysuru, and I'm wondering where I could go to get one and how much it would cost and so on. Any suggestions?

I remember when I had gone fishing in the Ganges, we bought our angling licenses from the Post office. If you are a local you may be exempt or have some discount.

Regards,

Bobby

Welcome aboard!

I fish Mysore sometimes and haven't got any permit or such.
No one stopped me though. That being said, the dam might be a no go, but downstream from there shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers!

I went with some friends to headworks near Kollegal, and to the river near Srirangapatna, but we kinda got in trouble for fishing without a license, so I was just wondering. Maybe I ought to be a little more sneaky.

I've fished around Mysore and malvalli for Mahseer and never had to get a license. Getting in trouble for fishing without license is news to me! Not saying that it wouldn't happen, but I guess it just might be to fleece you out for some chai-paani. Lol

Cheers
